Letter to Parents

Dear Parents,

Military Magnet Academy works to ensure that all students develop the world-class skills and life and career characteristics of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by preparing students to become competent, disciplined, and responsible citizens who excel at critical thinking and communication.  We will provide the necessary learning environment of a caring school where all cadets are challenged to learn and become an integral part of the 21st-century society in which they will live. It is our goal to provide a rigorous academic program that is comparable to any educational institution, both nationally and internationally.

At Military Magnet Academy, we target all students with enrichment opportunities and assistance in order to excel and grow. Computer-assisted instruction, such as Achieve3000, NoRedInk, and ALEKS extend learning and support smaller learning environments. Students have the opportunity to enroll in and challenge themselves in a combination of Advanced Placement, Dual-Enrollment, and CATE courses that support their preparation for post-secondary training and employment. As a school, we understand that our progress depends on the coherence and continual growth of all programs and school-related functions, based on the most current best practices.  Therefore, this requires ongoing, comprehensive assessments of instructional strategies and curriculum, student data, our school climate and culture data, our parental involvement, and renewing our partnership with the MMA Foundation.

The dedicated professionals in our building will continue to participate in professional development to increase differentiated instruction strategies and to incorporate targeted cooperative learning and grouping in the classrooms. Faculty and staff will also increase the implementation of technology to enhance instruction, curricula, and promote the higher-order thinking and communication skills of our students.

As we embark on the next twenty years, it is important that all stakeholders share in the mission of helping our Cadet Scholars achieve academic excellence, develop their citizenship and advocacy skills, and prepare to transition beyond high school to become leaders in their chosen field and future endeavors. Critical thinking and communication skills are foundational to future success. Thank you for all of your support in the development of our future South Carolina graduates and world leaders!
