Clinic Hours For students are 8:45 AM to 3:00 PM

  • The clinic is for the use of students and staff. 
  • All students must have a pass and their ID to be admitted to the Clinic, except for emergencies.
  • Please notify the Nurse with any student health concerns. Remember, all health information is confidential.
  • Please return the Emergency Health Card you received with other papers at the beginning of school immediately. 
  • Student cannot go on any field trip without an Emergency Health Card on file in the Clinic.
  • During an evacuation of the building the Nurse will be found in the Chicora parking lot.
  • All medical forms must be dated and signed by the parent/guardian.

Medications at School

  • Medications to be given at school must be brought in with the Doctors Order form.
  • By law, only the Parent/Guardian can bring medication to school to the School Nurse. This includes refills.
  • The Parent/Guardian and the Nurse count the medication together and sign the log of entry.
  • If your student carries medication for emergency self-administration (like an inhaler for asthma) a Self-Medication/Procedure Doctor’s Order Form must be on file in the Nurse’s Clinic. Otherwise, if found, the medication will be brought to the nurse for disposal.

End of the School Year Medication Pick-Up

  • All medication kept at school must be picked up by the last day of school. Students are not permitted to transport medications home.
  • Any medication remaining at school after the last student day will be properly disposed of. This includes all prescription and non-prescription medications, inhalers and Epinephrine pens.
  • If you are unable to pick up medication by the last day of school, alternative arrangements can be made by contacting the Nurse before to the end of the school year.

Always follow up with your physician if any medical problem persists or additional symptoms occur.

When your student returns to school, remember to send an excuse note with him/her.

When to Keep Your Child Home  

Please keep your child at home if any of the following symptoms are present:

  • Any temperature 100 degrees or higher
  • Persistent earache
  • Discharge (green or yellow) from the eyes and pink or red eyes
  • Bad or persistent cough
  • Persistent sore throat
  • Rash – Please have your doctor evaluate the rash to determine if it is contagious
  • Diarrhea, or vomiting

An ill child should NOT return to school until:

  • Student has had no fever (above 100 degrees) for 24 hours (without taking fever reducing medication-Tylenol, Advil, Motrin, etc.)
  • There has been no vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours
  • Per doctor, your Student has been on antibiotics for 24 hours (i.e.-strep, conjunctivitis (pink eye), etc.)
  • Your Student is symptom free for 24 hours
